Yao Yuan was born in Ningbo of Zhejiang Province in 1952. He began to learn painting in the army in 1975 and became an oil painter of Beijing Fine Art Academy in 1976.
In 1978, he pursued advanced studies for one year in People's Liberation Army Arts.Institute. Now he is the member of Chinese Artists Association, the first-class artist of Beijing Fine Art Academy.
